Complete task
Use this action to complete a Remember The Milk task that was created from Home Assistant.
Using this action from the user interface
If you prefer building automations and scripts visually, Home Assistant walks you through this action step by step. You pick what to target, tweak a few options, and save. No YAML knowledge required.
To complete a Remember The Milk task from an automation or a script:
- Go to Settings > Automations & scenes.
- Open an existing automation or script, or select Create automation > Create new automation.
- If you’re setting up a new automation, add a trigger in the When section. Scripts don’t need a trigger. They run when something else calls them.
- In the Then do section, select Add action.
- Search for and select Remember The Milk:
<your_rtm_username>_complete_task. - In the top right, select Menu (
) > Edit in YAML. - Enter this action’s YAML, following Using this action in YAML.
- Select Save.

In YAML, this action uses your Remember The Milk username in the action name. If your username is my_rtm_username, refer to this action as remember_the_milk.my_rtm_username_complete_task:

- Replace
my_rtm_usernamein the YAML example with the username you configured for Remember The Milk. - This action can only complete tasks that were created from Home Assistant with an ID.
