Bitwise XOR: bitwise_xor
The bitwise_xor template function performs a bitwise XOR (exclusive OR) operation on two integer values. Each bit in the result is set to 1 only if exactly one of the corresponding bits in the input values is 1.
This is useful for toggling specific bits in a bitmask or comparing two status values to find which bits differ. For example, you could compare the current and previous status registers of a deviceA device is a model representing a physical or logical unit that contains entities. to detect which flags have changed.

Function signature
The signature is a technical summary of this template function. It shows the name of the function, the values (called parameters) it accepts, and what type of data each parameter expects (for example, a piece of text or a number).
Function parameters that have a = with a value after them are optional. If you leave them out, the default value shown is used automatically. Function parameters without a default are required.

Function parameters
The following parameters can be provided to this function.
Good to know
- Both inputs must be integers. Convert state strings with
intfirst. - XOR-ing a value with itself produces zero, which is a quick way to detect whether two values are identical.

Detecting changed bits
Compare two status values to find which bits changed.
